The Eunuch, or, How Michael Jackson Got That Way

A Theory: Joe Jackson, threatened by what his son Michael’s oncoming puberty might have done to that cash cow of a singing voice, secretly has him chemically, or even physically, castrated. At first, the procedure drives Michael Jackson to an unprecedented level of success; emasculated, he finds his identity in his ongoing improvement as a performer. (Not a healthy outlook, but a feasible one for a young superstar in 197x.)

Some Supporting Evidence:

  1. MJ’s gender and age confusion. (Such things often accompany “non-standard” hormonal distributions).
  2. His forever-young full voice, exceptionally high speaking and singing. (Likewise. You just don’t hear voices like that; too high to be put-on.)
  3. His obsessive crotch-grabbing. (Obsession can reflect an inability to fully integrate or accept some feature of the world, the object of the behavior.)
  4. The inability of any of the kids with whom he’d shared a bed to identify what I remember being billed as an unmistakable feature of his genitalia (i.e., the lack of testicles).

A Prediction: Sometime in the next two months or two years, someone with access to the autopsy documentation leaks information confirming this theory; Michael Jackson’s reputation gets a little less sullied, owing to the insane circumstances which made him who he was.

frighteningly plausible; and perhaps offers a theory about roots of drug-attraction, altered states therefrom

    Yes—another piece of the puzzle.

If there is a need to find out more – you first need to assemble the right facts.

There are many, many singers out there with exceptionally high singing voices. A more general, popular culture example would be, of course, Mika. Insane!

Also, Eunuch’s were generally all about retaining alto or soprano voices in relation to the singing world.

Plus, Michael Jackson’s voice changed dramatically over the years to a lower, more adult sound. Very different to how he sounded with Jackson 5. Many of his brothers sound the same as Michael. Is it likely his Dad did something to them too?

Unless you get full confirmation, or find fully conclusive evidence, I don’t think its helpful to speculate any more about his past – even if it could help the world ‘feel sorry’ for him.

He needs to rest in peace now.

Thanks for writing, Fair. I guess I see more value to speculation than you do, but perhaps I should’ve begun my post with the word “hypothesis” in place of “theory.”

For me, that is, there’s generally some value in taking (relatively) wild stabs like this one based on what you can readily observe. That way, those with the means (reporters, e.g.) can conduct further research.

Also, although you may have come across this post six months after MJ’s death, I wrote it and put it online within a few weeks, when the fervor surrounding his death was still high. I wouldn’t have posted this now; I agree with you that at this point, it might not be as worthwhile to “speculate any more about his past” (as you put it).

I understand, Devan. All I would say is that in my opinion there is never a good time to speculate any more about his past unless you have more conclusive information.
The three domains of Michael Jackson are music, fiction and truth. All three should be tackled using fact. His music is awesome, the fiction is damaging and the truth is becoming clearer for all to see, apart from those still concerned, troubled or convinced by the fiction.

Although I will always love the art he entertained us with, my view about the person is based on fact. If any facts are such that fictional elements become revealed as the truth, then I would be happy to accept and agree.

Indeed I do understand though that it is the job of the media to study all three domains, so that the facts may come forward.

There just has to be extreme care that any speculation does not fan the flames of fiction, otherwise the truth could be harder to see or accept by people despite any available facts.

    Regards,

    Fair

That’s… well… fair. Seems like we won’t quite be able to agree on the value of speculation in advance of having access to all the facts, and I’m not sure I follow your breakdown of music, fiction, and truth. But I do appreciate your respect of and admiration for Michael Jackson, and your message of caution.

I find that whenever there is any type of speculation, there is always ONE person who refuses to merely write a comment and move on.
Like it or not, we, as
humans speculate about each other. In the case of Michael Jackson, this is very plausible speculation.
Jermaine Jackson was just recently quoted live saying that Michael never grew up. So, we would wonder WHY he never grew up.
I am 18 and while I grew up with Michael Jackson’s music, it always amazes me that some woman found him a sex idol.
I think his music and dance are amazing, but think I had already out-grown him emotionally and
now especially when I watch him in early videos and interviews.

Thanks Courtney. Glad to hear you found the approach I took here to be more useful or reasonable. I’m with you: MJ’s issues around emotional development—acknowledged, as you point out, by the Jackson family (not to mention the man himself)—need some explanation; why not this one (barring further evidence from his autopsy, the testimony of friends and family, etc)?

The autopsy diagram does not show a penis, and the groin area is without notation. It may be safe to say that this evidence shows that Michael was a eunuch.

I’m glad you posted this. I think the truth should come out and his Dad should be punished. We all know what lengths that monster went to, to get famous through his kids.
I’ve always thought that this happened to him. We were both the same age. I remember being 12 and stuck inside all summer from having momo. I only had my little am/fm radio to listen too for entertainment. I recall one morning they anounced that Michael had been taken by an ambulance around midnight the night before. Know one ever said why, but there was speculation that his Dad had him castrated. Years later I read the book, The Boys Vieanna Choir. It tells the story of Italian and Spanish fathers doing this very thing to there sons. It also explains how it effected them. They all grew up to behave exactly like Michael. Thank you for putting this out there. I’ve mourned for him all these years. It feels good to finaly mourn with others. It’s the most disturbing thing ever. Rest in peace Michael. We all love you and cry for you. You can be very proud of yourself. I know we all are. You were a great MAN a great FATHER and from what I’ve read a great FRIEND. You are missed and will always be held in great esteem. So, so sorry you were born to that monster. I know your family is in a lot of pain because of him. I hope they dont get upset if this is all true and it gets out. I think it would be healthy for them not to keep such a horrific secret anymore. It’s time for all of us to mourn this wonderful MAN together. We all need closure to this. I’m crying right now.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about
this, like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog.
A great read. I’ll certainly be back.
